Tips For Self Improvement and Motivation

Glen Luckman Self Improvement and Motivation By Philip Fowler

One thing that successful people know is that there is always room for improvement. People that achieve great things are always looking for a better or more efficient way to do things. They are not hindered by a challenge, but instead they are motivated by it. You can learn tips for self improvement and motivation that can be applied to many areas of your life. While the goal may be different, the techniques are the same.

Get Enough Sleep

You may wonder what this has to do with self improvement or motivation, but the truth is that many people stay up late and then have to drag themselves out of bed in the morning. Instead, turn off the late show and turn in at a reasonable hour. Set your alarm clock to allow time for a cardio workout before starting your day.

You will be amazed at how much this one little change can impact your life.

Keep a List

No matter how great of a memory you have, you simply cannot remember everything. Why even try? That just causes more stress. There is the stress of trying to remember and then the stress that comes when you forget something. Instead, just keep a list.

Some people make their lists for the next day at the end of each day. Others keep a running list and cross off items as they are completed. The system does not matter as much as the fact that you enlist some sort of system to help you keep track of all you need to do.

Find Balance

Sometimes, people who are seeking self improvement in one area of their life do so at the expense of every other area. For example, when someone is seeking ways to improve in his career, he often neglects his family, friends and health in a quest to succeed at work. Can that really be considered self improvement?

Instead, one of the best things you can do is work to strike a balance between all of the important things in your life. Many find that by doing this they are more able to motivate themselves to work because they know that, at the end of the day, there will be time to be with the people they love.

Do not Fret Over Your Inbox

Let’s get something straight. You are NEVER going to be caught up. Stop counting that as a goal. There are only so many hours in the day and more and more people are pressing for your time. Part of your motivation has to be coming to terms with the fact that you are only one person, and you simply cannot meet every request that comes your way.

Instead, you will need to prioritize and then allow yourself to linger in the feeling of accomplishment that comes with completing some of the tasks rather than beating yourself for not completing them all.

Set Goals

Part of self improvement and motivation is knowing exactly what you are trying to accomplish. This may sound obvious, but there are many people who are working toward some rather vague goals. This makes it hard to stay motivated because they may never really feel they have accomplished anything.

For example, a vague goal is “move up at work.” Move up to what? Would a raise based on a solid performance count? Is there a specific job you have your eye on? Are there steps that you would need to take between your job and the goal job? If so, each of those steps should be a separate goal. This will allow you to have a feeling of accomplishment as you work toward your ultimate goal. That is important when it comes to staying motivated.

Simple Tips For Self Improvement

Simple Tips For Self Improvement by Glen Luckman Article by By Hassan J Sheikh

If you are planning to employ a self improvement plan, three basic and simple tips are all you need. In fact, these tips are very easy to follow and to implement especially if you have the will for efficiently improving yourself.

The first tip is quite plain and simple - get up early. If you are a night person, this can be a bit difficult to do. However, practice makes perfect. Practice sleeping as early as possible so you can start the next day early.

As soon as you are completely awake and it is still early enough, watch and appreciate the sunrise. This simple activity can already help you with improving yourself by lifting your spirits. In the event that the sun is already up, you can take a walk, run, or jog for about 20 minutes just to shrug slowness or laziness off your body. After this, you can head back inside the house and continue with your morning ritual.

The next step is about eating the right breakfast. If your morning ritual does not include eating breakfast, you should find a way to squeeze it in your schedule. Simply being fully awake and alert is not enough to start your day right. You need to have sufficient energy to help you fulfill your everyday tasks. If you do not have time to cook, you may opt for cereals, granola bar, fresh fruits, or milk. These foods are all better as compared to skipping breakfast.

The third and final step for your self improvement is the easiest to do - smile. You only need to smile at other people as you go to different places. As people smile back at you, your spirits will definitely be uplifted and before you notice it, the rest of your day becomes more progressive and gratifying.

Tips and Advice For You Who Are Seeking Self-Improvement

Glen Luckman Tips and Advice For You By Serrgio Wilson

When I read many books and articles I find myself gravitating to the self-help and self-improvement sections. I think that at least once a week the average person should devote at least 20 minutes to themselves through self-help and self-improvement books. From reading a range of books from authors such as Hill Harper, Sidney Poitier, Donald Trump, and President Barack Obama I discovered that self improvement should be at the forefront of people’s lives, especially when it comes to bettering their lives. From all those books and personal experience I want to discuss some great strategies I use to facilitate my self-improvement.

The first strategy I use is cultivating a positive attitude through inspirational quotes. I have a quote I say to myself everyday that helps to keep me focused and on track to any goals I may have. It’s by Chris Gardner it goes “If you want something in life go and get it period”; I think this is so in line with self-improvement. This quote doesn’t allow for excuses or procrastination and it helps me to keep a clear mind that is only open to positive growth. The next big quote I use is by Descartes and its “I think therefore I Am”, I learned this in college and I think it says so much in so little words. Self-improvement begins a lot with a mindset and Descartes says it because when he highlights just thinking of something makes one who they are.

The next area of self-improvement involves mentoring. The best way for anyone to do well is to give back. This is done through mentoring. When one can be a positive influence in someone else’s live and be that person who gives sincere insight to them, then they are helping the person and themselves. I learned this a lot through the Bible and through my family.

The last area I want to discuss in self improvement is volunteering. Volunteering one’s time in an effort to help an organization or young people can help immensely. When one is helping to create something or get something done free of charge it’s more fulfilling because now work is being done with no monetary expectation.

As a whole self-improvement is important and I think it gets overlooked and forgotten in today’s world because of schedules and peoples excuses. I say don’t allow life to pass you by without partaking in some form of personal improvement. Inspirational quotes, mentoring, and volunteering all can help one to better themselves because it helps me on a daily basis.

10 Simple Self Improvement Tips to Improve Your Life

Glen Luckman Simple Self Improvement Tips By Scott Cofer

When it comes to self improvement tips, I personally prefer to cut to the chase. Better to get straight to the point, internalize some key concepts, then get out there and get into action.

I firmly believe that you can improve your life substantially by applying solid concepts to the strategy of incremental progression. That is, take a few key principles or philosophies and work consistently at getting just a little bit better each day at every one.

Having said that, here are 10 simple self improvement tips that can help you get going in the right direction:

1. Life is not fair, but it is still good. Be grateful each day simply for the fact that you woke up with the opportunity to accomplish something significant.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step. Goals can seem huge at first, so break them down into smaller pieces and take a step forward each day toward completing each piece - one at a time.

3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. That goes for yourself, as well. Give yourself a break, and anyone you are holding a resentment against. It only drains you of precious energy.

4. Your job will not take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch. When all is said and done, your loved ones and your relationship with them is all that matters.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month. Do not be a slave to the credit card companies and their loan shark rates, and avoid interest payments at all costs.

6. You do not have to win every argument. Agree to disagree. You are much better off leaving the debating table as friends rather than adversaries. The issue at debate is really not that important.

7. Cry with someone. It is more healing than crying alone. Holding in your emotions creates a time bomb. Get it all out, and keep your sanity.

8. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck. Again, incremental progression. I little saved consistently over a long period is the real key to wealth.

9. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile. Stop agonizing over it. Go ahead - just enjoy it and move on.

10. Make peace with your past so it does not screw up the present. Do not run over your future because you are too busy looking in the rear view mirror. You have a wonderful life to live - go live it.

Self Improvement Is The Way To Happiness

By: Sandra Stammberger

Self improvement is a way in which a person makes an effort in improving his performance in various activities. Self improvement helps the person in harnessing his powers positively to achieve results. By practicing self improvement a person is able to do his tasks on time and also do them successfully. No matter what challenges a person faces at different stages of life, a self improvement program plans to make the person meet the challenges with total confidence. A person is able to bring more control and benefits to his life in various ways.

A person should follow a self improvement program which consists of basic skills to improve one’s quality of life. A self improvement program makes a person understand himself and how life works. It also builds self esteem, self respect and overall mental discipline in a person. One can find more meaning and purpose to one’s life by following a self improvement program.

The Benefits Of Self-Improvement

By: Louis Bonaventura

When we look at a certain object, a painting for example - we won’t be able to appreciate what’s in it, what is painted and what else goes with it if the painting is just an inch away from our face. But if we try to take it a little further, we’ll have a clearer vision of the whole work of art.

We reach a point in our lives when we are ready for change. A whole pile of information that will help us unlock our self improvement power becomes evident because we are now searching for something to benefit us.

Until then, something can be staring us right in the face, but we don’t see it. The only time we think of unlocking our self improvement power is when everything goes wrong. For some, it’s not until they hit “rock bottom.”

Take a couple of frogs as an example -

Try placing Frog A in a pot of boiling water. What happens? He twerps! He jumps off! Why; because he is not able to tolerate sudden change in his environment - the water’s temperature.

Now try Frog B: place him in a luke warm water, then turn the gas stove on. Wait until the water reaches a certain boiling point. Frog B then thinks “Ooh … it’s a bit warm in here.”

People are like Frog B in general. Today, Anna thinks Carl hates her. Tomorrow, Patrick walks up to her and told her he hates her. Anna stays the same and doesn’t mind what her friend says.

The next day, she learns that Kim and John also abhor her. Anna doesn’t realize the importance of, and the need for, self improvement until the entire community hates her. But it’s never too late!

We learn our lessons when we experience pain. We finally see the warning signs and signals when things get rough and tough.

When do we realize that we need to change our diet? When none of our jeans and shirts fit us any longer! When do we stop eating candies and chocolates? When all of our teeth have fallen out!

When do we realize that we need to stop smoking? When our lungs have gone bad and we can’t breathe any longer.

When do we pray and ask for help? When we realize that we’re going to die tomorrow.

The only time most of us ever learn about unlocking our self improvement power is when our whole world is crashing and falling apart all around us.

We think and feel this way because it is not easy to accept the fact that we need to change. But change becomes even more painful when we ignore it.

Change will happen, like it or hate it. At one point or another, we are all going to experience different turning points in our lives - and we are all going to eventually unlock our self improvement power. Not because the world says so, not because our friends are nagging us, but because we realized it’s for our own good.

Happy people don’t just accept change, they embrace it. Now, you don’t have to feel the tremendous heat before realizing the need for self improvement.

Unlocking your self improvement power means unlocking yourself from being in the state of mind that “it’s just the way I am.” That is such a poor excuse for people who fear and resist change. Most of us program our minds like computers.

Jen repeatedly tells everyone that she doesn’t have the guts to be around groups of people. She hears her parents, sister, and her teacher state the same things about her to other people.

Over the years, that is what Jen believes. She believes it’s her story and that just “the way I am.” And what happens? Every time a large crowd would come over to their house, in school, or in the community - she tends to step back, shy away and lock herself up in a room. Jen didn’t only believe in her story, she lived it.

Jen has to realize that she is not what she is in her story. Instead of having her story posted on her face for everyone to remember, she has to have the spirit to show people “I am an important person and I should be treated accordingly!”

Self improvement may not be everybody’s favorite word, but if we look at things in a different point of view, we might have a greater chance of enjoying the whole process instead of counting the days until we are fully improved.

Three sessions in a week at the gym would result in a healthier life, reading books instead of watching TV or playing video games will enlighten us with more profound knowledge. Going out with friends and peers will help you take a step back from work and unwind.

Self Improvement and Success

By: Louis Bonaventura

Everything that happens to us happens on purpose. And most times, one thing leads to another. Instead of locking yourself up in your cage of fears and crying over past heartaches, embarrassment and failures treat them as your teachers and they will become your tools in both self improvement and success.

Say this to yourself … better yet, print it out and post it in a place where you will see it throughout your daily routine:

I Never See Failure As Failure But Only As:

- A learning experience!
- The negative feedback I need to change the course of my direction!
- The opportunity to develop my sense of humor!
- The opportunity to practice my technique and improve my performance!
- THE GAME I MUST PLAY TO WIN!

I remember watching Patch Adams. It’s a great film that will help you improve yourself. Hunter “Patch” Adams is a medical student who failed to make it through the board exams. After months of suffering in melancholy, depression and suicidal attempts - he decided to seek medical attention and voluntarily admitted himself in a psychiatric ward.

His months of stay in the hospital led him to meeting different kinds of people. He met a catatonic, a mentally retarded person, a schizophrenic and so on. Patch found ways of treating his own ailment and finally realizes he has to get back on track. He woke up one morning realizing that after all the failure and pains he has gone through, he still wants to become a doctor.

He carries with himself a positive attitude that brought him self improvement and success. He didn’t only improved himself, but also the lives of the people around him and the quality of life in general. Did he succeed? Absolutely!

So, when does self improvement become synonymous with success? Where do we start?

*Stop thinking and feeling as if you’re a failure, because you’re not. How can others accept you if you can’t accept yourself?

*When you see gorgeous models on TV, think more of self improvement, not self pity. That isn’t reality anyway! Self acceptance is not just about having nice slender legs, or great abs. Concentrate on inner beauty.

*When people feel down and low about themselves, help them move up. Don’t go down with them. They’ll pull you down further and both of you will end up feeling inferior.

*Mistakes are a great way to learn lessons. Don’t feel stupid and doomed forever just because you failed on your attempt to achieve something. There’s always a next time. Make room for self improvement.

*Take things one at a time. Don’t expect a black sheep to be renewed in the snap of a finger. Self improvement is a one day at a time process.

*Self improvement results in inner stability, personality development and SUCCESS. It comes from self confidence, self appreciation, self esteem and hard work.

* Set meaningful and achievable goals. If your goals are too far out of whack you will never reach them! Setting attainable goals is one of the keys to success.

*Little things to us may mean BIG things to other people. Sometimes, we don’t realize that the little things that we do like a pat on the back, saying “hi” or “hello”, greeting someone “good day” or telling Mr. Smith something like “hey, I love your tie!” are simple things that mean so much to other people. When we’re being appreciative about beautiful things around us and other people, we also become beautiful to them.

*When you’re willing to accept change and go through the process of self improvement, it doesn’t mean that everyone else is doing the same thing. The world is filled with people of different values and attitudes. Sometimes, even if you think you and your best friend always like to do the same thing together at the same time, he/she may decline an invitation for self improvement.

You should always remember that there’s no such thing as “over night success.” If it was easy, wouldn’t everyone be doing it? It’s a wonderful feeling to hold on to the things that you already have in your possession, but realize that those are just some of the things you once wished for.
